James played professional baseball for six seasons, including five with the San Diego Padres. After his baseball career, he was called to full-time ministry. James earned a Master of Theology (ThM) from Dallas Theological Seminary and has served at Shadow Mountain Community Church since 2015. He currently serves as an associate pastor to young married couples. He is married to Amy, a violinist, and they have four children.
